About BoringTools

Most calculator websites bury the actual tool under ads, pop-ups, and a "Sign up to see your result" wall. BoringTools does the opposite: type your numbers, get your answer, done.

Why "boring"?

Boring is a compliment here. We want every tool to be predictable, accurate, and quiet — no AI trying to guess what you meant, no ten settings before you can calculate anything. The name has a second meaning too: in machining, "boring" refers to precision hole-cutting. If BoringTools ever grows a workshop/engineering section, that's where the name pays off twice.

How it works

Every calculator runs entirely in your browser — there's no backend, no account, and no server storing what you type. The Percentage Calculator was built first as our reference tool, and the math it uses is shared under the hood with calculators that will follow it (discounts, tips, VAT, margins), so the whole site stays small and consistent.

What's next

We're starting with about ten everyday calculators, in English and German first, then Spanish, French and Portuguese. See the full list on the tools page.
